Self-Esteem in Children

As a child grows, their self-esteem fluctuates and is affected by their experiences. Children with low self-esteem may be unwilling to try new things, exhibit a low tolerance for frustration, give up easily or wait for somebody else to take over, be overly critical and easily disappointment in themselves. These children often see temporary set backs as permanent and intolerable. This can place these children at risk for mental health problems as well as difficulties in solving different kinds of problems and challenges they encounter in life.
